Good evening, everybody! It's Brian, your favorite red-headed English teacher in Okinawa . Anyway, a typhoon is on its way to Okinawa tonight! Actually, it isn't supposed to hit the island, but it will come close enough to bring high winds and a lot of rain. Tomorrow, I will learn who my brave students are- those who decide to come to class despite the risk of getting wet! Did you know that rain can be used as both a noun and as a verb? Look at the rain (noun) outside. And; It is raining (verb) outside. Okay, okay enough about rain.... Until next time, study hard!
Hey everybody, Brian sensei here. We're (already!) almost halfway through October, and that means Halloween will be here very soon! I have been teaching some of my students some spooky Halloween vocabulary, and everyone is looking forward to the holiday. Next Saturday, October 21st, I invite everyone to please join us on Torii Station in Yomitan from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for our Halloween celebration! We will be experiencing the open-gate event together.... exploring haunted houses, enjoying live music, and all of the other freaky festivities the event has to offer, and of course, practicing our English! Hope to see you there!
Recently, we have been helping a student prepare for his TOEIC exam. He had taken the exam before but wanted our help to improve his scores. With only 2 lessons before his next exam date we were still able to improve his test taking strategies in a significant way. We had to wait a month, eagerly in anticipation. When he came back with the results, we were extremely happy to find out that he had exceeded his goal! Now we are challenging him to keep going and we work with him twice a week so that he can keep reaching for higher goals.
Recently I started teaching a new student.
He is a quick learner and fun to teach.
We both like to play soccer so it is a common interest.
I want to help him learn how to hold a conversation.
I think he will be very good at speaking English soon and I hope he will succeed in passing his university exams.
